Playdate in Lincoln Square

Baker and I met up with some new friends, Kim and her son Dylan, for a play date in her neighborhood.  Chicago is divided up into a million neighborhoods and it's very overwhelming to figure out!  But Lincoln Square is a really quaint area and their park is fabulous!  Baker had a blast playing there.

One of the nannies brought a stroller full of trucks and once Baker spotted them, as soon as we got there, he was in heaven.  He didn't leave this little patch of dirt the entire time!

Baker & Dylan playing in the dirt.  Baker had been submerged in it earlier and left filthy!

On our way out, he got on this fun spinning thing...his face says it all.  Poor thing couldn't even stand up when he got off he was so dizzy.
When we got home, we heard Giada was 3 blocks away doing a cooking demo so we stopped by to see her.

She is just as lovely in person!
Seriously, no one should be this cute and tiny after eating so much pasta.
After the demo, she was signing books but the line was just too long so we stood off to the side.  She got word of Bake screaming her name from the side of the stage and stopped what she was doing to say hi to him.  :)  How nice was that?

Nina & Papa's Fall Visit

We love our visits every fall with Brad's parents!!  Thankfully, Andy gets some time off for fall break from teaching at Lee so they usually come see us for a few days and we love it!  So, week before last they came up.  This was their first visit to see us in Chicago so it was especially exciting.  We couldn't wait to show them our new city and home and all of the things we do on a day to day basis.  We had a great visit and as always, it was extremely hard to say goodbye, esp for Baker.  The older he gets, the harder the goodbyes get.

As soon as Nina & Papa got to our place, they gave Baker his bag of Halloween/Fall happies!  This made Baker very happy!
All of his new loot...looks a bit like Christmas!

Thursday - Michigan Ave
On Thursday, we walked up and down Chicago's Magnificent Mile for a little shopping and lunch at Food Life.  They loved how Chicago plants such pretty flowers throughout the city, esp on Michigan Ave.  This city does take great pride in keeping it clean and pretty!
Eating a family favorite...Garret's Popcorn.  If you're ever in Chicago, you must go get some of this!
Our adorable kid!  He is seriously the cutest thing, but of course I'm biased!

He loves his Papa!  So much so that Papa can't even go to the bathroom without Baker waiting at the door for him...and trying to sneak a peek.

Friday - Bengston's Pumpkin Farm
We've always wanted to go to a pumpkin farm with Brad's parents but it's just never worked out.  We made sure to go this year with them!

Riding the train
Riding the honey pot with daddy...brave soul!
Tractor time!
I absolutely love Baker in this picture!  He looks as if he posed him this way but I promise we didn't!
The largest pumpkin on record in IL
Three generations
Face to face with Llama llama
The petting zoo is a hit no matter where we go.  Baker just loves animals and could spend hours feeding them and talking to them.  It makes my heart melt.  He's feeding a carrot to the cow here.
Mommy feeding little Llama and Baker gives one of the goats a hug.  :)
Pony ride!

He's going to the slammer.
One cute criminal!

Riding the wagon through the farm.

Our perfect pumpkin - seriously one of the prettiest pumpkins ever.

Baker went pumpkin shopping too.  Here is one of the baby ones he picked out.
When we got home, we made a pirate pumpkin with the cutest Mr. Potato Head features.
Then we made a gingerbread haunted house.  Who knew this would be so difficult!  All four of us couldn't keep the walls and ceiling in tact.
Baker didn't care.  He just wanted to smear icing all over the place and eat some of the house!  The mess is part of the fun though!
Loving his Nina and waving his pumpkin toy Nina & Papa bought him.

Saturday
The Cloud Gate, aka "the bean"
Family picture at the bean.

We got camera happy trying to get the perfect picture of Baker with Nina & Papa.

Exploring State Street
Such a sweet pic of Baker and Papa having a special bedtime story.
Baker got these Woody pj's at the Disney store and they have become his uniform...he wants to wear them ALL the time!  But they are so, so cute!  He's giving his tough cowboy stance here.  :)
