Baker Turns 3!!
Calling all firefighters, Baker just turned 3! I seriously can not believe that he is 3 years old already! Where does the time go? At the arrival of every birthday, I'm shocked at how fast that year went by. His sweet little life is going by so fast and I find that I miss those baby years with him where he was so small and his little laugh and each smile just melted my heart. Obviously, they still do, but when it's all new to the three of us, it's just that much more precious. But now we are on to new phases that are equally exciting, like hearing him speak in these crazy sentences (often very funny) and learning his ABCs, colors, shapes, & numbers. So times have changed and it's so much fun!
On to the party - His actual birthday wasn't until Mon the 24th but we had the party on Sat the 22nd. Baker asked for a "Woo Woo" party so a firetruck party he got. What fun I had planning this one! It was so weird to celebrate his birthday without his little friends from DC but we still had a really great time with the new friends he has here. It was definitely one for the books! And speaking of books, he got lots of them. He got so many toys for Christmas and we had a hard time finding a place for it all. So when friends asked what to get him, we casually mentioned that books were a great option. He got so many great books, many we had never heard of, and we are having a great time reading them! Best of all, Baker loves them! If anyone wants to know what books we got for your own toddler's library, let me know...I'd be happy to compile a list!

No firetruck party would be complete without a firetruck cake. And the cake pops I made turned out way cuter than I expected but they tasted even better!
We loved the dalmation cupcakes to go along with it!
Party favors filled with lots of firetruck goodies.

Brad made these yummy cookies and I thought they turned out so cute!
Loads of food...we always have way too much!
He was desperately trying to open up his gifts the moment he saw them sitting out. Here he is trying to sneak one. Little bugger.
Singing happy birthday!
He blew out all three candles and then the black icing turned his lips completely blue. You'll see the blue lips in the following pics so don't think he's hypothermic.
Simon and Hugo enjoying some cake with Baker.
Max and Parker were some of our party guests.
He did get two non-book gifts, thankfully for him! :) Golf clubs and skates!
Oh, and he got a guitar from Aunt Brenda which he just loves. Parker loves a guitar so he was probably more excited than Baker about this gift.
The party in full swing
Sweet Parker is Baker's buddy from school. They became quick friends after being in the same class this year. According to their teachers, they sit together during circle time and are always playing with each other. When Parker was out of town this week, the teachers said that Baker kept asking where he was. So so cute.
Baker plays pin the badge on the doggie with a little cheating action as he looks from under the blindfold. :)
Emily and Max having fun in Baker's room.
Wrestling with his Bible Study friend, Jack. These two wrestle like no tomorrow. I'm always terrified one of them will get hurt!
Parker didn't put the guitar down through the whole party. He was serenading us the entire time.
The cute party friends - Emily, baby Max, Baker, Parker, Jack and Hugo...the other Max was too busy playing to stop for a photo.
Testing out his new skates in the hallway. How cute is our little 3 year old? And yes, his outfit matched the colors of the party. I'm crazy like that.
Practicing skating on the hardwood is way more difficult...and he's down.
Photos with the birthday boy.
Now he has his full gear on...knee and elbow pads, skates and golf clubs. I guess he wants to play hockey.
Feeding Papa a cake pop through the webcam. :)
Going to down on his guitar.
Video of Baker singing a short song he made up...the cutest thing.
