Chicago Blizzard 2011

There were many names given to this record snow storm that hit Chicago this year...SnoMG, Snowzilla, Snowtorious, Snowacane.  It was quite the storm and amazing to see how our view from home could change from minute to minute.  It wasn't the measurements that were so crazy...it was the crazy wind and frigid temps that came with it.  We ended up with about 2 feet of snow and at times, 70 mph winds.  It was definitely a storm we won't soon forget!

The night the storm hit...before we went to bed, we could only see the glow of the ice skating rink in Millennium Park.  The other pic is of a quiet Michigan Ave.
What we woke up to..we thought the storm may be over.
The snow and ice hanging off the building next to ours.
Michigan Ave and the Chicago River
The snow started again 45 min later.  Baker was killing time by pretending to jump off of a diving board.
Then 3 minutes later, this is what we saw...pretty much nothing but white out conditions.  The 2nd pic is actually of Trump Tower, normally very visible and only a few blocks from where we live.
I went downstairs to take a few pics from the lobby.  Baker burned a little energy by riding his
bike all around it!

When the snow was starting to stop, we took a walk across the street for lunch at Noodles & Co.  You know we can't sit still for long so we had to get out in the mess.
Baker and I were having a little snow ball fight.
Our snow angel
We weren't prepared for how freezing and windy it was!
The crazy snow piles on the sidewalks.  The drifts were insane!
A pretty view of the BP bridge from our window.  Looks like art doesn't it?
A snowy Lake Michigan and the Planetarium
It didn't take long for the crowds to gather around the Bean again.
Baker loves looking out at the window, esp when it's snowing!  He was looking for cars that were sliding around.  :)
